You have probably noticed that wheels that are big enough and safe for hedgehogs are hard to find.  Bucket wheels, however, are made with high quality materials and can withstand even the most energetic hedgehog's abuse.  They work fine for hedgehogs of all sizes, and the solid construction means there are no bars to hurt little hedgehog feet.  Best of all, they are a snap to clean- just throw them in the sink or tub and give them a rinse.  One of the things that makes a bucket wheel safe is that there is no cross bar to come around and hit your poor hedgie in the face! Bucket wheels are great for litters of hedgehogs that are still learning.  Two hedgehogs could play on this wheel at the same time without killing eachother!

Each wheel is made from the bottom of a solid bucket, a rollerblade wheel, and several peices of PVC pipe and connectors.  If you are handy, you can make your own, but you will find that to make just one will cost you about the same as to buy one.  My wheels are only $24.99 plus shipping! Ask about discounted prices for multiple orders too.  The upright pipe that holds the wheel on can come out of the 'T' fitting, so your wheel can easily be shipped and will fold up for easy storage.

These wheels are the best way for a hedgehog to have fun and get exercise.  But don't take my word for it- just ask Paco.  He says that playing on his bucket wheel is the most fun a hedghog can have. He runs up to 12 hours a night, and when he's done, he hides underneath it.
