Hi! I'm Michelle Mersereau. I come from Fredericton, New Brunswick and have been living in Halifax since 2000. I moved here to finish University and because I love Nova Scotia. Unfortunately, no school offered a major in hedgehoggery, so I did the next best thing and graduated in April 2003 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Photography. Now I work in a Photo lab and breed hedgehogs for a living.

I began breeding hedgehogs when I came to Halifax in October 2000, because of the high demand for them and because I love hedgehogs! I received my first hedgehog, Timbit, as a Christmas present in 1998. In 2000 I got Big Mama from a pet store in Shediac, NB. Later I bought Sonic and Snoflake from a friend in Lake Echo, NS. Unfortunately, Big Mama disappeared and Snoflake, Sonic, and Timbit passed away, but now I have healthy new females, Makonya and Mama Chiku. I also have Mama Chiku's daughter, Peanut, and Peanut's baby, Cacia. My grumpy but cute male for breeding is Paco, and in November I got another female, Chiquita, who is very sweet and silly, and a buggy-eyed male named Trippie, whose page is yet to come.
The information contained within this site comes from an accumulation of knowledge from books, websites, and personal experience. It is correct to the best of my knowledge. I consider myself an expert on the care of pet hedgehogs, but I have not had formal training in vetrinary or scientific study of hedgehogs.
